No, the issue is only through this application (Minecraft Application). So my next step was to go through, I just didn't think going through feedback would give me a application troubleshooting fix, but I will do that now!

Microsoft tech support did not help at all with the issue when I contacted them.

Hi Ian. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.

Is there a Reset or Repair button at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features >Minecraft > Advanced Settings?

When you say you updated drivers, is this from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page for your exact model, Dell Service tag or HP serial? Just running the Device Manager updater is not enough.

I'll give you all other possible solutions for Sound problems. Please try them all even if you already have done so as there is a sequence. If you have any problems performing any steps I'll be standing by here to help you.

1) Update the sound driver from the PC maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model, if it is newer than the one presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. While there compare to make sure you also have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display, Network and all other drivers.

4) Right click Volume icon in System Tray, choose Sound Settings, from the Output and Input devices dropdown menus, choose then one(s) affected to see if that helps. If not use the Troubleshoot button nearby.

5) Run the Playing Sound troubleshooter at Start button > Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot.

6) Try rolling back the sound drivers in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Choose Sound controller and other audio devices, then Driver tab, then Roll back if available.

7) If no newer sound drivers then uninstall the one presently installed in Device Manager, reached by right clicking the Start Button. Restart PC to reinstall.

8) Try other and older drivers for your model Sound controller, too. For example, try the next oldest driver in the model's online Support Downloads list. To try all previous drivers installed on your system, in Device Manager choose Sound controller's Driver tab, then Update Driver, then Browse, then Let Me Pick.

9) If this was caused by Windows Updates then you can check which were installed at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Installed Updates, then uninstall them from the link there, and hide with the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

10) If this was caused by Version 1809 update (which you can confirm at Settings > System > About) then you can roll back Version 1809 in Settings>Update & Security>Recovery and then hide it until it matures using the Hide Updates Tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

11) You can also use System Restore to get before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

13) If nothing else helps then run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This solves many problems and will also bring it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

I am an Independent Advisor.

1. Check %appdata%\.minecraft\resources and verify the sounds are there.

2. Launch Minecraft and Press F3 + S to determine if sounds may be heard.

3. Load into a World then Press F3 + T to reload resources

4. Reinstall Minecraft

To reinstall Minecraft on Windows, follow these instructions.
Press your Windows and R keys, to bring up the "run" dialogue
In the prompt, type in, %AppData%\.minecraft
Delete everything except the saves folder

When I go into the %appdata% file folder, and click on .minecraft there is no "resources" folder. So does that mean I don't even have the sound files? I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it doesn't download the sound files?

Thank you for your help. I have tried the "Reset" button in the advanced settings under the Minecraft App and still the issue persists. To your question, I have removed all my audio drivers from Realtek and downloaded and installed them from the manufactures website. Still to no avail.

I have then tried all troubleshooting steps 1-12, I'll have to try step 13 still.

That's exactly where the sound files were..
Check Assets folder.

1. Completely uninstall the game then go to Microsoft Store
Settings > Apps > Apps & Features
Locate Minecraft > Select Uninstall

2. Reinstall Minecraft
Click on the Ellipse (3 dots) next to User Name > Select My Library
Locate the Game > Select Install

Once you reinstall, load a world and verify if sound is heard.

3. If you do not hear sound, launch Windows Explorer (the folder icon in Taskbar)
Click This PC > Select Drive C
Click on Windows Folder
Click on Program Files (x86)
Look for Minecraft folder (Mojang)
Right click on Minecraft Setup .exe file > Select Properties
Select Compatibility Tab
Check Run this program in compatibility mode
Select Windows 7 from dropdown menu
Select Run As Administrator
Click Apply, Ok

Verify if sound is now present.

I tried once again to do the uninstall and reinstall and still the issue occurs with no sound. I then searched my "C" drive for the Minecraft folder, and there is no Minecraft folder. It doesn't exist. I get to Program files, and there is nothing in there with Minecraft on it.

The only item closely resembling Minecraft is when I search %appdata% and go to the ".minecraft" file folder. That's it. Where still there is no "resource" folder in there.

I've looked through the configuration files, and everything looks fine. My sound files are in the assets folder and they are just the serialized folders within, I believe, the game just doesn't want to play the sounds. So I believe I have all the sound files and everything but the game just doesn't want to cooperate.
